FTSE 100 Climbs to 5-Month High

The FTSE 100 rose more than 0.5% on Monday, moving above 10,800 to its highest level since the record close on February 27, driven by strong corporate earnings and easing energy costs. Market sentiment was further supported as the US and Iran refrained from further attacks for a third consecutive night, helping to temper worries about inflationary pressures. Vodafone was among the session’s standout performers, gaining more than 5% after reporting stronger-than-expected organic service revenue growth and reiterating a positive outlook. AstraZeneca climbed 2.6% after posting quarterly earnings that beat forecasts and confirming both its full-year guidance and 2030 targets. GSK advanced more than 3%, while Unilever and BAE Systems also traded higher. By contrast, energy stocks retreated in tandem with weaker oil prices, with Shell slipping 1% and BP down 2.3%. Mining shares also underperformed, including Glencore (-3.3%), Anglo American (-2.4%) and Antofagasta (-1.9%).
