India’s BSE Sensex opened nearly flat at 77,692 on Thursday after gains in the previous session, as investors digested the US Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged and reassessed the global monetary policy outlook. Caution dominated sentiment after the Fed flagged ongoing inflation risks, while market participants also tracked rising US Treasury yields and volatile crude oil prices.
Technology shares remained a key source of support after leading Wednesday’s rally, underpinned by continued optimism over AI-driven demand. At the same time, investors focused on the corporate earnings season, with Eicher Motors, Dabur, and Bajaj Housing Finance among the companies set to report quarterly results, and Sun Pharma staying in the spotlight due to regulatory developments.
Among the notable gainers were SML Mahindra (15.2%), Redington (10.7%), Balkrishna (9.8%), and Moil (9.3%). On the downside, KPIT (-6.6%), WAAREE (-5.5%), and Diamond Power (-5.0%) declined.
