German Inflation Reaccelerates as July CPI Climbs to 2.8% YoY

Germany’s consumer inflation rate edged higher in July 2026, interrupting the recent disinflation trend and signaling renewed price pressures in Europe’s largest economy.

According to the latest data updated on 30 July 2026, Germany’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.8% year-over-year in July, up from 2.3% in June 2026. Both figures are measured against the same month a year earlier, meaning the July reading reflects how prices have changed compared with July of the previous year, while the June figure was compared with June a year earlier.

The pickup in the annual inflation rate suggests that the path back to lower and more stable prices may be uneven, and it will likely draw close attention from policymakers and markets tracking the outlook for European inflation and interest rates.
