Risk appetite returned most notably to AI-related megacaps: Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft each jumped around 5%, while Nvidia added 3%. Bristol-Myers Squibb rallied nearly 10% following reports it may be a takeover target for AstraZeneca.
By contrast, semiconductor names remained volatile as investors repeatedly reassess speculative positions and overleveraged holders continue to unwind at likely discounted levels. Micron, Texas Instruments, and Seagate finished lower. SpaceX and AMD edged about 1% higher ahead of their earnings reports due tomorrow.
