Dutch Manufacturing Output Falls in June

Manufacturing output in the Netherlands fell by 1.3% month-on-month in June 2026, following an upwardly revised 1.1% increase in May. This was the first decline in manufacturing activity since February. The contraction was driven primarily by lower production in food (-4.8% vs. +1.0% in May), leather and footwear (-4.1% vs. +2.6%), electrical appliances (-1.9% vs. +0.5%), and machinery (-2.9% vs. +7.0%).

Output also continued to fall in several sectors, though at a generally moderating pace: textiles (-0.2% vs. -0.5% in May), paper (-0.7% vs. -2.2%), rubber and plastics (-0.4% vs. -1.0%), and metal products (-1.6% vs. -2.4%).

On an annual basis, manufacturing production rose 4.6% in June, slowing from a 6.8% increase in May. Output expanded in nearly half of all subsectors, with the machinery industry again posting the strongest growth, while the largest decline was recorded in machine repair and installation.
