Both the current and previous readings are based on year-over-year comparisons, measuring how prices in a given month have changed relative to the same month of the prior year. June’s 10.4% figure reflected inflation versus June of the previous year, while July’s 8.2% captures the annual change relative to July a year earlier.
The latest slowdown suggests inflationary pressures in Romania may be losing momentum, offering some relief to households and potentially giving policymakers slightly more room as they assess the trajectory of prices in the second half of 2026.
