Slovakia’s Core Inflation Ticks Up in July After June Dip

Slovakia’s core consumer price index (CPI) moved back into positive territory in July 2026, rising 0.1% month-over-month after a slight decline in the previous month. The latest figures, updated on 13 August 2026, mark a turnaround from June 2026, when core CPI fell by 0.1% on a month-over-month basis.

The month-over-month comparison shows that underlying price pressures in the Slovak economy have firmed modestly after June’s contraction. While the shift from -0.1% to 0.1% is small in absolute terms, it suggests that disinflationary forces eased in July, with core prices edging higher compared with the previous month.

Core CPI excludes more volatile components such as food and energy, making it a closely watched gauge of underlying inflation trends. The July increase will be monitored for signs of whether this marks the start of a stabilization in core price growth or simply a brief pause following June’s decline.
