Hungary’s industrial production surged 10.1% year-on-year in June 2026, confirming preliminary estimates and sharply rebounding from a 0.4% decline in May. This was the strongest expansion since September 2022.
Manufacturing, which represents 96% of total industrial output, grew by 10.8% in June after stagnating in May. Within manufacturing, production rebounded in:
- Transport equipment (up 21.0% vs -0.5% in May)
- Electrical equipment (up 1.8% vs -2.6%)
- Rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products (up 2.8% vs -3.2%)
- Basic metals and fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment (up 8.1% vs -3.0%)
Output of computer, electronic and optical products also rose at a faster pace, jumping 49.7% after a 42.1% increase in May.
Outside manufacturing, production growth strengthened in mining and quarrying (up 60.8% vs 43.7%), while output in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply returned to growth (up 0.3% vs -9.9%).
However, on a seasonally and working-day adjusted month-on-month basis, total industrial production declined by 1.4% in June, reversing the 2.7% increase recorded in May.
