The Shanghai Composite Index was little changed around 3,903 on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component Index fell 1.2% to 13,923, as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of a busy week of earnings from major blue-chip companies. Market participants awaited results from EV giant BYD, energy majors PetroChina and CNOOC, as well as retail favorites including Laopu Gold and Eoptolink Technology.
Zijin Mining advanced 1.4% after reporting strong first-half results, underpinned by solid operational performance and revenue growth. On the downside, BYD edged 0.5% lower, Midea slipped 0.2%, and Suzhou TFC Optical Communication declined 1.5%.
Investors also looked ahead to the National People’s Congress Standing Committee meeting scheduled for August 25–28, seeking fresh policy signals after a series of weaker-than-expected economic data and recent pledges by officials to bolster growth.
