North Macedonia’s unemployment rate was 11.3% in the second quarter of 2026, unchanged from the previous quarter and remaining at its lowest level since at least 1993. The number of unemployed persons fell by 1.5% to 90,020, of whom 63.6% were men and 36.4% were women. At the same time, the number of employed persons inched up by 0.2% to 708,698, with men representing 57.7% and women 42.3% of the total. The employment rate rose slightly to 46.6%, while the labor force participation rate stood at 52.5%. Informal employment increased by 7.2% to 101,022 persons, with the largest share in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (51%), followed by construction (17.2%).
