Singapore Bank Lending Hits New Record High

Singapore’s bank lending rose to a fresh record high of SGD 939.1 billion in July 2026, up from SGD 931.4 billion in June.

Business loans increased to SGD 572.8 billion from SGD 569.3 billion, driven primarily by stronger lending to the manufacturing sector (SGD 31.9 billion vs. SGD 28.3 billion), building and construction (SGD 189.9 billion vs. SGD 186.6 billion), and general commerce (SGD 103.2 billion vs. SGD 102.4 billion). These gains were partly offset by declines in loans to transportation, storage, and communication (SGD 49.5 billion vs. SGD 50.5 billion), as well as to financial and insurance activities (SGD 146.8 billion vs. SGD 151.3 billion).

At the same time, consumer lending climbed to SGD 366.3 billion from SGD 362.1 billion, supported by higher housing and bridging loans (SGD 254.7 billion vs. SGD 252.8 billion) and car loans (SGD 10.2 billion vs. SGD 10.1 billion). In contrast, borrowing through credit cards edged lower (SGD 17.6 billion vs. SGD 17.9 billion), as did other personal loans (SGD 80.1 billion vs. SGD 80.6 billion).
