Brunei’s annual inflation rate was unchanged in July 2026, after reaching a more than two-year high of 0.3% in June. Price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.2% vs 1.5% in June) and for furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (0.3% vs 0.4%).
Meanwhile, clothing and footwear costs declined (-3.8% vs 3.5%), and deflation intensified in communication (-3.5% vs -0.2%) and miscellaneous goods and services (-1.0% vs -0.6%).
In contrast, transport costs rebounded (0.2% vs -0.2%), and inflation ticked up for restaurants and hotels (0.6% vs 0.5%) and for recreation and culture (0.7% vs 0.4%). Prices were unchanged for housing and utilities (0.0%), health (0.6%), and education (0.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.2% in July, reversing the 0.2% increase recorded in June.
