Sweden’s Services PMI Climbs to 55.8 in August, Signaling Stronger Expansion

Sweden’s services sector showed stronger momentum in August 2026, with the Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rising to 55.8 from 54.3 in July. The month-over-month increase points to a faster pace of expansion in services activity, as readings above 50 indicate growth in the sector.

The improvement in August follows an already expansionary reading in July 2026, when the index stood at 54.3. The latest data, updated on 3 September 2026, suggest that the services side of the Swedish economy is gaining traction compared with the previous month, reinforcing the positive trend seen over the summer period.

On a month-over-month comparison basis, the “Actual” figure for August reflects a stronger expansion than the “Previous” reading for July, which itself was measured against June. This sequential strengthening indicates that growth in Sweden’s services sector is not only continuing but accelerating, an encouraging signal for overall economic activity.
