US equity futures were little changed on Thursday as investors weighed how companies will perform in a persistently higher interest-rate environment. S&P 500 futures were flat, offsetting a 0.2% gain in Dow contracts and a 0.6% decline in Nasdaq 100 futures.
Broadcom slipped 3% in premarket trading, despite reporting a 221% year-on-year jump in revenue in its latest fiscal quarter, becoming another chipmaker that failed to meet the upper end of analysts’ forecasts. AI infrastructure names followed the move lower, with Nvidia, SanDisk, and Marvell all down more than 1%.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise dropped 4.3% after its results missed expectations. Even so, the major indices were firmer overall, recovering some ground after rising expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike this month had weighed on markets earlier in the week.
Treasury yields paused their recent advance, even as Tokyo’s fresh intervention to support the yen drew attention in currency markets. Among individual names, Citi, Tesla, and Eli Lilly were set to open about 1% higher.
