US stock index futures were little changed on Friday as investors awaited the closely watched August payrolls report for fresh insight into the strength of the labor market and the outlook for monetary policy. In extended trading, DocuSign rose 4% after reporting better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and revenue, while also raising its full-year sales guidance. In contrast, Lululemon Athletica sank more than 18% after posting weaker second-quarter sales and profits and issuing a downbeat outlook for the current quarter. During Thursday’s regular session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 1.18%, the S&P 500 gained 1.06%, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.4%, marking the second straight day of gains for all three major benchmarks. The advance came as Treasury yields pulled back after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller signaled that an additional rate hike would likely not be necessary if underlying inflation continues to cool.
