Industrial production in Finland grew by 4.5% year-on-year in July 2026, the strongest expansion since March and slightly above the downwardly revised 4.4% increase recorded in June. The improvement was largely driven by the manufacturing sector, where output rose 5.3%, accelerating from a 4.1% gain in the prior month.
Within manufacturing, robust growth in the metal industry (9.5% vs 9.6% in June) and a rebound in the chemical industry (1.9% vs -3.5%) more than offset continued contractions in the manufacture of furniture (-17.4% vs -17.9%) and in printing and reproduction of recorded media (-6.1% vs -7.9%).
In contrast, mining output fell by 13% after a 4.8% increase in the previous month. Growth also slowed in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector, where output rose 3.1%, down from 6.7% in June.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall industrial production declined by 1% in July, reversing part of the downwardly revised 1.9% increase observed in the preceding month.
