FX.co ★ Greece Current Account Surplus Narrows in July

Greece’s current account surplus narrowed to EUR 0.22 billion in July 2026, down from EUR 0.67 billion in the same month a year earlier. The goods deficit widened to EUR 3.15 billion from EUR 2.92 billion, as imports (EUR 8.12 billion) increased more than exports (EUR 4.97 billion) in absolute terms. At the same time, the primary income deficit grew to EUR 0.68 billion from EUR 0.57 billion, driven by higher net payments of interest, dividends, and profits. The secondary income deficit also widened, to EUR 0.60 billion from EUR 0.24 billion, mainly due to higher net outflows in the general government sector. By contrast, the services surplus inched up to EUR 4.65 billion from EUR 4.39 billion, primarily reflecting an improvement in the travel balance.
