Bitcoin held above $85,000 on Tuesday, trading near its highest level since January. The cryptocurrency has retained a gain of roughly 7% over the past five days and about 35% over the past three months. The recent advance has been partly driven by softer crude oil prices and renewed institutional interest. US spot Bitcoin ETFs registered net inflows of $433 million on September 18, while corporate demand also picked up as Strategy resumed Bitcoin purchases following a three-week hiatus.
Regulatory developments have added further support. The US SEC granted a five-year exemption to platforms that use blockchain infrastructure to facilitate trading in tokenized stocks and other securities. This decision came even as the US Senate last week blocked further consideration of the Clarity Act, legislation intended to provide a more defined regulatory framework for digital assets.
At the same time, traders are closely monitoring this week’s US–China summit for any signs of progress toward easing trade tensions, which could have a broader impact on risk appetite across global markets.
