FX.co ★ Sweden Economic Confidence Strongest in Over 5 Years

Sweden’s Economic Tendency Indicator rose for the fifth consecutive month in September 2026, reaching 107.1 from 105.1 in August. This is the highest level since May 2022 and signals stronger-than-normal sentiment in the overall economy. The Business Sector Indicator climbed to 109.3 from 107.5, reflecting firmer confidence in both construction and services, while sentiment in manufacturing was essentially unchanged at 106.3. Consumer confidence also improved sharply, increasing to 102.2 from 98.4 and reaching its strongest reading since December 2021, supported by more positive views of household finances and the Swedish economy. Trade confidence edged down to 112.1 from 113.7 but remained significantly stronger than normal. At the same time, firms’ production expectations became more optimistic, even as a growing share of manufacturers reported excessive stocks of finished goods. Companies’ pricing plans continued to point to price increases above normal levels.
