Italy’s consumer confidence index fell to 91.2 in September 2026 from 94.5 in August, coming in below market expectations of 94.0. This was the lowest reading since April and reflected declines across all components: the economic climate registered the sharpest drop, while the personal, current, and future climate measures also weakened moderately.
The national statistics agency noted that the September figures were partly influenced by changes in the organization of the survey network. However, even after excluding the estimated impact of these methodological adjustments, consumer confidence still showed a moderate overall decline, including in the personal, current, and future climate indices.
