Switzerland’s procure.ch-UBS Manufacturing PMI edged down to 55.3 in September 2026, below market expectations of 56 and retreating from a three-month high of 57.1 in August. Although the index declined, it still signaled expansion for the seventh consecutive month, albeit with slower growth across several key components.
Production fell 3.9 points to 55.9, order books slipped 0.4 points to 57, purchasing volumes dropped 3 points to 58, and employment weakened by 2 points to 48.4, moving into contraction territory. Sales inventories declined 3.1 points to 46.2, while delivery times eased 3.1 points to 63.9. Stocks of purchased goods also decreased, falling 1.5 points to 49.7.
On the price side, input cost pressures intensified, with purchasing prices rising 0.7 points to 70.
