Consumer prices in São Paulo rose 0.51% month-on-month in September 2026, marking the strongest increase in six months after remaining unchanged in August. The rebound was driven primarily by housing costs, which posted the sharpest advance (0.98% vs. -0.3% previously). Food prices also recovered (0.44% vs. -0.18%), as did transportation (0.3% vs. -0.43%). In contrast, there was a clear loss of momentum in personal expenses (0.3% vs. 1.34%), health (0.19% vs. 0.24%), and clothing (0.02% vs. 0.32%). Education costs were stable.
