Estonia’s industrial production increased by 4.5% year-on-year in August 2026, up from a downwardly revised 2.2% rise in July and posting its strongest expansion since January 2026. The faster growth was mainly driven by a sharp pickup in mining and quarrying output, which rose 25.3% (vs 13.5% in July), while manufacturing output also inched higher, up 1.2% (vs 1.0%).
Within manufacturing, the strongest increases were recorded in the production of coke and refined petroleum products (20.4%), electrical equipment (12.2%), fabricated metal products (6.9%), vegetable and animal oils and fats (16.7%), and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (19.1%).
Output in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply surged 56.9% year-on-year, a marked acceleration from 16.0% in July.
On a month-on-month basis, total industrial output rose by 4.2% in August, after a 0.9% increase in the previous month, indicating a clear strengthening of industrial activity.
