Sweden Inflation Rises Less Than Expected in September

Sweden’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 1.1% in September 2026, up from 0.3% in August, according to preliminary data, but came in below market expectations of 1.3%. This was the highest inflation rate since February 2025, primarily driven by rising energy prices amid ongoing supply disruptions in the Middle East. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.9%, rebounding from a 0.3% decline in August. Meanwhile, the consumer price index with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) – the Riksbank’s target measure – rose 1.5% year-on-year in September, up from 0.7% in August and reaching its highest level since May, though slightly under the forecast 1.6%.
