The NZX 50 was little changed around 13,657 in Tuesday morning trade, stabilizing after declines in the previous two sessions. Gains in technology and healthcare were largely offset by weakness in utilities and real estate. Sentiment was cautious ahead of this week’s release of Q3 inflation data, which is expected to influence the RBNZ’s next interest rate decision. Additional caution came from rising oil prices, which reinforced concerns about inflation and the prospect of further rate hikes amid escalating Middle East tensions. The broader index was attempting to recover from its lowest level since September 16, reached in the prior session, following a positive lead from Wall Street where a rebound in tech stocks supported risk appetite. Among individual movers, F&C Investment advanced 1.8%, Infratil rose 1.3%, Fisher & Paykel added 0.6%, and Mainfreight gained 0.5%, while Mercury NZ slipped 0.7% and both ANZ Group and A2 Milk edged down 0.5%.
