The number of employed people in the United Kingdom increased by 102,000 to 34.577 million in the three months to August 2026, far surpassing expectations for a 20,000 rise and following a 66,000 gain in the previous period. This was the strongest employment growth since May, driven by continued expansion in full-time positions, which partly offset a decline in part-time jobs.
