The decline in car registrations in Slovakia moderated in September 2026, suggesting a tentative improvement in the country’s automotive market. According to the latest data updated on 22 October 2026, car registrations fell by 2.3% year-on-year in September, a smaller contraction compared to the 6.2% year-on-year drop recorded in August 2026.
Both indicators are measured on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s registrations to the same month a year earlier. While registrations are still below last year’s levels, the easing from August to September indicates that the downward trend in Slovakia’s car market may be stabilising, potentially reflecting improving consumer sentiment or a gradual normalisation in supply and demand conditions.
