Mexico’s economic activity expanded by 3.3% year over year in August 2026, a slight moderation from July’s 3.4% increase but still above market expectations of 3.1%. Growth was led by tertiary activities, which rose 3.6%, driven by strong performances in wholesale trade (12.1%), other services excluding government activities (7.3%), and information services in mass media (5.0%).
Secondary activities grew 3.5%, supported primarily by construction (7.5%) and manufacturing (3.2%). In contrast, primary activities declined 2.6%, reflecting a 6.1% drop in agricultural output. On a year-to-date basis, overall economic activity increased 1.7%.
