Indonesia shares ended down 0.6% at 2326.914 in light volume due to profit-takin after government unveiled slightly higher inflation figures for August - CPI +2.75% slightly higher than expected. It triggered fears that higher inflation figures in August could inspire the central bank to stop cutting interest rates.
Among gainers: BCA +2.9% at IDR4,375, but off intraday high of IDR4,425, car distributor Astra +2.0% at IDR30,750, but down from IDR30,850-high, while bellwether Telkom +1.2% at IDR8,500 on bargain buying.
Among decliners are Bumi that closed down 2.6% at IDR2,825, Indocement down 5.0% at IDR9,550. But BCA ended +2.9% at IDR4,375, Astra +2.0% at IDR30.
