Hope for incentives and vaccines has lifted Wall Street to new heights

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 124 points, or 0.4%, by the end of Friday, hitting 30.179, while the S&P 500 fell 0.4% to 3.709.

Meanwhile, the high-tech Nasdaq Composite shed 0.1% to hit 12.755, while the small-cap Russell 2000 fell 0.3% to close at 1.972.

All four indices closed at the record level of the previous session.

Investors should expect more volatility this Christmas-shortened week as they watch new developments in incentives and vaccines.

It's also worth noting that Moderna, the manufacturer of the Covid-19 vaccine, also received an Emergency Use Approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday.

The FDA announced approval for the Moderna vaccine a week after it approved the vaccine from two manufacturers, Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech.
