The positive profit reports of number American countries, including Travelers, McDonald’s and 3M, helped the Dow Jones Industrial Average index to move upward for more than 100 points on Thursday.
The DJIA index closed with the increase by 131,95 points or by 1,33% at the level of 10081,31 on Thursday. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index closed with the upturn by 11,51 points or by 1,06% at a level of 1092,91, whereas the Nasdaq index closed with the growth by 14,56 points or by 0,68% at a level of 2165,29.
Travelers shares uprose by 3,68 dollar or 7,7%, to 51,70 dollar, after it became known, that the company’s profit in the 3rd quarter had risen more than 4 times in view if the sharply decreased the accident payments expenses and investment results improvement. The company increased its profit forecast for year.
The DJIA index growth was also promoted by the McDonald’s shares upturn by 1,17 dollar or 2%, to 59,50 dollar and also the 3M shares uprise by 2,46 dollar or 3,2%, to 78,79 dollar. The McDonald’s report indicated the profit upward move by 5,9% in the 3rd quarter. The 3M’s profit also exceeded the analysts’ estimations and the company increased its profit report for the year once again.
Meanwhile, the AT&T shares rose in price by 16 cents or 0,6%, to 26,10 dollar, although the company’s profit decreased by 1,2% in the 3rd quarter, but nevertheless exceeded the analysts’ forecasts.
