US stocks closed higher, Dow Jones up 0.64%

At the close on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones rose 0.64%, the S&P 500 index rose 0.95%, the NASDAQ Composite index rose 1.62%.

Salesforce.com Inc was the top performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today, up 5.60 points or 3.34% to close at 173.05. Merck & Company Inc rose 2.84 points or 3.19% to close at 92.00. Nike Inc rose 3.08 points or 2.94% to close at 108.00.

The biggest losers were Caterpillar Inc, which shed 9.16 points or 4.88% to end the session at 178.67. Chevron Corp was up 3.68% or 5.44 points to close at 142.43, while Dow Inc was down 2.45% or 1.28 points to close at 51.06. .

Among the S&P 500 index components gainers in today's trading were Autodesk Inc, which rose 8.43% to 183.41, FactSet Research Systems Inc, which gained 8.01% to close at 388.76, and also shares of Whirlpool Corporation, which rose 7.06% to close the session at 163.58.

The biggest losers were The Mosaic Company, which shed 9.57% to close at 45.24. Shares of CF Industries Holdings Inc shed 9.01% to end the session at 80.60. Quotes of Valero Energy Corporation decreased in price by 7.60% to 104.53.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Blue Hat Interactive Entertainment, which rose 263.03% to 2.73, FStar Therapeutics Inc, which gained 59.80% to close at 6.36. as well as shares of TDH Holdings Inc, which rose 54.74% to end the session at 2.94.

The biggest losers were Applied Therapeutics Inc, which shed 28.97% to close at 0.76. Shares of Advent Technologies Holdings Inc lost 21.91% and ended the session at 2.53. Aeroclean Technologies LLC dropped 19.78% to 11.88.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that rose in price (1876) exceeded the number of those that closed in the red (1298), and quotes of 100 shares remained practically unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2420 companies rose in price, 1359 fell, and 208 remained at the level of the previous close.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, rose 0.41% to 29.07.

Gold futures for August delivery lost 0.65%, or 12.00, to hit $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude for August delivery fell 1.85%, or 1.96, to $104.23 a barrel. Brent crude for August delivery fell 1.58%, or 1.77, to $109.97 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the forex market, the EUR/USD pair remained unchanged 0.41% to 1.05, while USD/JPY fell 0.94% to hit 134.99.

Futures on the USD index rose 0.17% to 104.16.
