Shares quotations of the technological and consumer sectors companies dropped on Wednesday as a result of which Dow Jones Industrial Average index interrupted its 3-day series of growth. The disappointing profit forecasts from Autodesk exerted pressure on the companies shares of the process engineering sector and the consumer sector companies securities, including J.C. Penney shares, were disserved by unexpected decline of housing starts in the last month. According to the trading results Dow Jones Industrial Average index decreased by 11.11 points or by 0.11% to 10426.31 points. The shares of several technologic companies became the leaders of fall, including Hewlett-Packard, securities of which went down in value by 84 cents or by 1.6% to 50.48 USD, and United Technologies, the securities of which receded in price by 73 cents or by 1.1% to 68.81 USD. The weaker than it was expected Autodesk revenue forecast and the company’s profit reduction by 72% in Q3 made decline possible. Shares quotations of this software developer slid by 2.80 USD or by 10% to 24.20 USD. On the back of investors disappointments Salesforce.com shares moved down by 2 USD or by 3.1% to 63.61 USD even in spite of the company again raised prediction for the fiscal year. Nasdaq Composite index narrowed by 10.64 points or by 0.48% to 2193.14 points at the trading results. Standard & Poor\'s 500 index ticked down by 0.51 points or by 0.05% to 1109.80 points. Both shares of the companies making vital products and shares of the companies specializing in the manufacture of basic consumer goods dropped in price. Among S&P 500 components J.C. Penney shares fell by 71 cent or by 2.4% to 29.15 USD. Concerning DJIA components Kraft stocks tumbled by 38 cents or by 1.4% to 27.26 USD amid reports that Hershey company is holding preliminary negotiations with Italian firm Ferrero SpA about joint proposal of buying Cadbury. Kraft already has offered USD 16 billion for the British company.
