On Monday, the head of the British-Russian media and the son of a former KGB spy who received nobility, Evgeny Lebedev, appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to end the war in Ukraine.
Evgeny Lebedev, the son of Alexander Lebedev, wrote a letter to the London Evening Standard newspaper owned by him calling on Vladimir Putin to use peace talks to end the conflict in Ukraine, which took place today.
In his words: I beg you as a citizen of Russia to stop the murder of your Ukrainian brothers and sisters at the hands of the Russian people. And as a British citizen - to save Europe from war!
Vladimir Putin demanded that NATO never accept Ukraine.
In July 2020, Lebedev became a life member of the Upper House of the UK Parliament with the title of Baron Lebedev of Hampton in the London borough of Richmond upon Thames and Siberia in the Russian Federation.
He also owns the British online newspaper Independent, which is published daily.
Lebedev's father once worked as a spy at the Soviet embassy in London, but then made a fortune trading securities in the chaos that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
