The US stock market closed with a decline, Dow Jones dropped by 0.04%

At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, Dow Jones depreciated by 0.04%, the S&P 500 index fell by 0.45%, and the NASDAQ Composite index dropped by 1.16%.

Investors nervously evaluated the prospects of the global economy against the background of the continuation of the hawkish monetary policy of world central banks.

This week, investors are awaiting final data on US GDP growth in the first quarter. Analysts believe that the country's Ministry of Trade will raise the indicator to 1.4 percent from the value of the preliminary estimate of 1.3 percent. The first estimate was 1.1 percent.

The leaders in growth among the Dow Jones index components at the end of today's trading were shares of Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD), which appreciated by 7.08 points (2.35%), closing at 307.89. Quotes of Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) grew by 2.22 points (2.03%), ending the trading at 111.74. Shares of Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) increased in price by 2.66 points (1.76%), closing at 154.01.

The leaders in decline were shares of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), which fell by 6.42 points (1.92%), ending the session at 328.60. Shares of Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V) rose by 3.25 points (1.42%), closing at 226.30, and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK) dropped in price by 1.52 points (1.33%) and ended the trading at 113.08.

The leaders in growth among the S&P 500 index components at the end of today's trading were shares of Boston Properties Inc (NYSE:BXP), which appreciated by 9.88% to 56.59, Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc (NYSE:ARE), which gained 4.98%, closing at 114.51, as well as shares of Newell Brands Inc (NASDAQ:NWL), which rose by 4.71%, ending the session at 8.22.

The leaders in decline were shares of Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL), which fell in price by 7.66%, closing at 14.59. Shares of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) lost 6.06% and ended the session at 241.05. Quotes of CarMax Inc (NYSE:KMX) dropped in price by 5.75% to 81.25.

The leaders in growth among the components of the NASDAQ Composite index at the end of today's trading were shares of Trxade Group Inc (NASDAQ:MEDS), which rose by 93.84% to 16.36, Benitec Biopharma Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:BNTC), which gained 81.36%, closing at 0.36, and also shares of MoonLake Immunotherapeutics (NASDAQ:MLTX), which increased by 77.55%, ending the session at 45.95.

The leaders in decline were shares of Avalo Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:AVTX), which fell in price by 88.69%, closing at 0.50. Shares of FibroGen Inc (NASDAQ:FGEN) lost 83.12% and ended the session at 2.71. Quotes of C3is Inc (NASDAQ:CISS) dropped in price by 29.66% to 1.85.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of appreciated shares (1929) exceeded the number of shares that closed in the negative (1035), and the quotes of 85 shares practically did not change. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, shares of 1990 companies fell in price, 1554 rose, and 153 remained at the level of the previous close.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is formed based on trading indicators of S&P 500 options, grew by 6.03% to 14.25.

The futures on gold for delivery in August added 0.16%, or 3.05, reaching $1.00 per troy ounce. As for other commodities, the prices of WTI crude oil futures for delivery in August rose by 0.62%, or 0.43, to $69.59 per barrel. Futures on Brent crude oil for delivery in September rose by 0.70%, or 0.52, to $74.53 per barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, the EUR/USD pair did not significantly change 0.16% to 1.09, and USD/JPY quotes fell by 0.12%, reaching 143.51.

The futures on the USD index dropped by 0.14% to 102.40.
