The appraisal of the U.S. stock market

After 7 days of growth Dow continues its rising trend again. The trades closed with the significant rally on Thursday, as the news about house sales increase impacted positively the investors\' mood. Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 188 points to 9069, a new maximum since January 2009. Nasdaq climbed by 47 points to 1974 and S&P 500 closed at 976 gaining 22 points.
An unexpected advance of house sales in June led to a rally in the stock market. The house price stabilization is considered as a requirement for economic revival. Apart from this, the Labor Department had issued the data, according to which the jobless claims rose to 554 000 last week, slightly lower than the forecasts. At the same time, the total number of persons obtaing the unemployment benefit fell to 6,2 million, the lowest mark since April.
The last financials release was mixed. 3M and AT & T companies shifted expectations of Wall Street, but McDonald\'s had published worse results than it was expected. The company losted 638 million dollars or 21 cents per share. Ford had issued its quaterly profit figures amounting to 2,3 bln.dollars, compared to the loss of 2,7 bln.dollars a year earlier.
Big Pharma, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Amazon reported huge earnings. Besides, Bristol-Myers announced that it is to buy Medarex for 2,4 bln.dollars, and Amazon announced about a purchase of Zappos.com for 807 million dollars.
