Trump sells his private jet to pay legal costs

Unbelievable things have happened with Donald Trump, the former US president. The billionaire had to sell his aircraft to cover high legal expenses.

Reports indicate that Trump sold one of his expensive private jets after recent court rulings. The total legal costs amounted to nearly $500 million. To cover these expenses, Trump sold his 1997 Cessna aircraft, valued at $10 million.

The buyer was Mehrdad Moayedi, an Iranian-American construction tycoon and long-time supporter of Trump. During the 2019 and 2020 US presidential elections, Moayedi raised funds for the Republican's campaign, contributing the maximum allowable amount of $5,600.

Previously, it was reported that Trump's legal case related to mishandling classified documents had been postponed indefinitely. At the end of April 2024, Bloomberg wrote that Trump spent $4.9 million on legal fees in March alone. However, according to his campaign finance documents, only $6.8 million remained to pay his lawyers. "That forces Trump to find other sources of cash to defray the mounting costs of his court battles," Bloomberg emphasized.

Notably, on March 14 this year, the court denied Trump's request to dismiss the case of mishandling classified documents. His motion to drop the charges was rejected as "unconstitutional."

The first of four court hearings on criminal charges of business document falsification began on April 15, 2024. Trump called this criminal case political persecution by Joe Biden, the current US president.
