Survey reveals gender pay gap in crypto industry

A survey of 502 respondents, conducted from June to July 2024, has revealed a surprising twist in the pay structure of the crypto industry. Women earn an average of $172,000 annually in this sector, while men make only $150,000.

Curiously, experts found out that women are more likely to hold senior positions in crypto companies, whereas men seem content with lower-level jobs. Analysts attribute the salary gap to women’s longer crypto experience, steel nerves, and persistence. These traits allow them to notch heftier gains.

Besides, the survey uncovered that women remain in the crypto sector for over five years, while men typically stay for around 4.5 years before seeking calmer industries.

Interestingly, the Web3 sector has proven to be a gold mine. In this industry, women earn more than $3,000 per week. According to Pantera Capital Research, for every dollar earned by a man, women make $1.15. In contrast, in non-crypto companies, this figure drops to 84 cents.

The research also highlighted that women in the crypto sector face various challenges, including unwanted attention from colleagues and dismissive attitudes. Nevertheless, the high salaries suggest that the industry is slowly but steadily changing, offering excellent career prospects for women despite the headwinds.
