In a surprising announcement, Donald Trump revealed a new initiative involving eccentric billionaire Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who would head a commission aimed at improving government efficiency.
"At the suggestion of Elon Musk, who has given me his complete and total endorsement … I will create a government efficiency commission," the Republican floated the idea, which will take effect if he is elected.
According to Trump, the commission would be "tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government." In addition, the new task force would be responsible for developing "drastic reforms" and making recommendations to the administration. "We need to do it. Can’t go on the way we are now," the billionaire declared, clarifying that these measures are necessary because the current situation needs to change.
Earlier in September, there were discussions about involving Elon Musk in a special commission alongside other business leaders. The head of Tesla and SpaceX reportedly responded enthusiastically to the proposal. The new working group, which Trump plans to create if elected, is expected to audit government programs and address the current reckless spending policies. The Republican believes that the US government wastes too much money and engages in unnecessary regulation, so this issue needs to be prioritized and resolved as soon as possible.
