ExxonMobil, Rosneft start exploration in Laptev Sea

The 2D seismic exploration program plans to acquire up to 6,000-line kilometers of data. It will last until the end of October. Rosneft obtained licences for investigation, exploration and production of hydrocarbons within the Anisinsko-Novosibirsky and Ust-Oleneksky licence blocks in 2013. The area of the blocks is more than 205,000 square kilometers.
ExxonMobil and Rosneft signed a strategic partnership agreement in 2011. Under the terms of the agreement, Rosneft gained an opportunity to work with ExxonMobil on its projects in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. In its turn, ExxonMobil will work with Rosneft at its sites in the Kara Sea and the Black Sea, as well as in Siberia and the Arctic.
