US GDP growth slows to 1.5% in Q2

According to data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported by Bloomberg, the US economy grew at an annualized rate of 1.5% in the second quarter of 2026. This figure reflects a slowdown compared to the first quarter, when US GDP increased by 2.1%.

Consumer spending remains the primary driver of business activity, accounting for more than two-thirds of the nation’s economy. From April to June, consumer spending rose by 3.4%. The sustained resilience of domestic demand and a rise in private investments have previously led economists to raise their GDP growth forecast for the third quarter from 2% to 2.5%.

This macroeconomic dynamic is accompanied by a gradual stabilization of prices. In June 2026, annual inflation in the United States slowed to 3.5%, following a spike to 4.2% in May, which marked the highest level since spring 2023.
