US President Donald Trump declared the creation of a new government body called the Forces of Superintelligence. The White House chief made the announcement on Truth Social, linking the initiative to his recent decree renaming artificial intelligence. According to Trump, the agency’s primary goal is to secure US leadership in advanced digital technologies. He emphasized that this technology will affect the world more profoundly than the Industrial Revolution or the Internet.
Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton is put in charge of the new agency. The governing board will also include Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson and other representatives of relevant agencies. The special group will report directly to the president. Its members will coordinate government programs, remove barriers for developers, and protect government digital systems.
The creation of the unit coincides with debates about the impact of progress on the labor market. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin described a realistic scenario in which AI development could leave millions of people jobless or force them to change careers. Faced with these social risks, the US administration is betting on deregulation and capacity building in an effort to maintain global technological dominance.
