Despite the official statements from Russia and Europe say that the South Stream project is abandoned once and for all, the Bulgarian government told about the readiness to allow the construction of the pipeline. The rate of their reaction really impresses. Taking existent events into account, for example, problems, mutual sanctions and increasing degree of tension in relationships, Bulgaria just plans to allow the construction. The Prime Minister Boyko Borisov solemnly said that "the Bulgarian authorities to issue all necessary permissions for the project preparation." In addition, Borisov stressed that at the recent EU summit in Brussels he held several meetings with the leaders of the European countries where "he was widely understood" and "earned support." Perhaps, making such loud and of no solid grounds statements Bulgaria tries to avoid penalties for refusing to participate in the project. It was after the statement of possible fine that the Prime Minister had received the endorsement to continue the implementation of the international agreement. Bulgaria is ready to issue a permit for the construction of the pipeline and perform all preparatory activities which it has pledged to do. The Prime Minister noted that he is waiting for the reaction of Gazprom, and if the South Stream project is really cancelled, it will not be the fault of Bulgaria.
