After long and minute calculations Spanish government found out how much the EU paid for the sanctions against Russia. The results of the calculation were presented by the Spanish minister of foreign affairs and cooperation Manuel Garcia-Margallo. The sum turned out to be impressive, €21 billion. The data is based on the statistics of goods exported to Russia and the amount of the Russian tourists. It should be noted that Spain is one of the few countries which are against the lethal weapon supply to Ukraine. Spain appeals to employ all the possibilities to settle the conflict diplomatically. According to Garcia-Margallo, an agreement that can be reached is the last chance to avoid the sanctions enforcement, which will have a negative impact on all countries. The statement was made ahead of the discussion of the anti-terror control and sanctions enforcement held by the heads of the European countries. However, French foreign minister Laurent Fabius reminded that the main fact influencing the decision making process is the situation in Ukraine. The principle of the sanctions imposing connected with the Mariupol bombing remains in force. However, Fabius thinks that these measures depend on the state of affairs in Ukraine. Thus, The European Union made it clear that it is aware of the inevitable financial losses, but it does not intend to soften its attitude towards Russia. Earlier, the EU planned to extend the list of companies, people, and Ukrainian and Russian organizations which will be sanctioned.
