Over the last two years, the Chinese authorities have been removing high tech products by the leading foreign producers (the US mostly) from the government purchase list because of security concerns.
Thus, the list does not include about 60 Cisco Systems product models, Apple Inc. iPads, MacBook laptops, Citrix Systems products, and Intel products. Antivirus software by McAfee, the US software company, was also excluded.
Experts state that the Chinese government has implemented that policy due in part to Edward Snowden’s revelations about a spying program by the National Security Agency. Besides, the tension between China and the US escalated significantly because of the number of prosecutions for hacker attacks and cyber espionage.
