In unemployment rate hit its low since May 2012. According to the Eurostat data, in January the unemployment rate fell to 11.2%.
The revised data showed that in December the unemployment rate amounted to 11.3%, however, the earlier reading was 11.4%.
The analysts, questioned by one of the leading financial information providers, had not forecast any indicator’s changes concerning the flash reading.
In September 2013 the unemployment rate in the eurozone reached its high of 12%.
In January unemployment dropped to 9.8% from 9.9%. The lowest jobless rates were recorded in Germany (4.7%) and Australia (4.8%). The highest indicator’s score was registered in Spain (23.4%). The latest data revealed that in November the unemployment rate in Greece amounted to 25.8%.
In the eurozone unemployment among youth in January reduced to 22.9% from 23.1%, while in the EU the indicator declined to 21.2% from 21.3%.
