Poland would give a symmetrical response to the Russian court order evicting Polish diplomats from their consulate building in St. Petersburg, Poland’s minister of foreign affairs Grzegorz Schetyna said.
He said if Russia continues to bill Poland, it will "receive the same treatment from the Polish side."
According to him, Russia’s overdue rent in Poland is significantly higher than that of the Polish consulate in St. Petersburg.
On March 17, the Arbitration Court in St. Petersburg ruled that Poland must vacate the consulate in the historic center of the city.
Warsaw called the move a breach of diplomatic convention and said it is not going to acknowledge it.
The lawsuit against the Polish consulate was filed in summer 2014. According to the plaintiff, Poland declined to pay the rent for the last 20 years.
