According to Energy Minister Alexander Novak, Russia does not plan to prolong gas transit contract with Ukraine. The existing agreement expires in 2019.
To Southern Europe, Russian gas will be delivered through the Turkish Stream pipeline.
“All efforts today are targeted at construction of gas transport infrastructure to Turkey, at the border between Turkey and Greece and at gas supplies to consumers in Southeast and Central Europe via this route,” said Energy Minister.
"Our approach to the Turkish Stream is very simple and straightforward. We have decided on the construction of a pipeline under the Black Sea to Turkey and gas transportation facilities to the border of Turkey and Greece. These facilities will be created,” Novak added.
The Turkish Stream project is anticipated to be launched at the end of 2019.
