According to the State Oil Marketing Organization of Iraq, the country increased oil exports by 22.6% to 3.077 million bpd in April 2015, compared to April 2014.
Due to the attack carried out by a militant group called “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant” in April 2014, Iraq shut down oil production in Kirkuk. Oil exports from this area were resumed no sooner than in half a year. In April 2015, oil export volumes increased by 3.2% on a monthly basis.
Last month, a total of 92.3 million barrels was exported, out of which 78.8 million barrels had come from oil fields situated in Basra, and 13.5 million barrels, from Kirkuk. The shipments brought 4.79 billion dollars to the state budget, 51.9 dollars per barrel.
Oil shipments were carried out through terminals in Basra and Hor Alamie in the Persian Gulf and Jahan in Turkey and further on through the Mediterranean Sea, including road transport to Jordan.
