Russia and India are in talks on a large-scale project of building a gas pipeline between two countries. The most complicated pipeline system can be built in the nearest future. Both countries are interested in collaboration in this sphere and they are working hard on the launching of the project. This topic was thoroughly discussed on the 6th OPEC International Seminar.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that he had discussed the construction of a gas pipeline to India with India's minister of oil and energy. A working group is set up and the preparatory work is underway.
Alexander Novak also noted that the initiative was introduced by the Indian colleagues. A year ago, the country’s authorities suggested that the gas pipeline from Russia to the western part of China should be extended.
Moreover, during the OPEC Seminar, the Russian delegation had fruitful negotiations with the Energy Minister of Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil producer. Saudi Arabia is thinking over making investments in Russia, moreover, the countries have agreed to establish a technical commission to study this issue.
